Appreciation for Things Overlooked

The irony of it all

No, it's not déjà vu. This is Great Falls, Virginia. While in Greenville, South Carolina I posted a piece about hidden potential. The short of it is – I was struck by the fact a waterfall existed and a highway was built over it. In my mind, I thought who does that?

Perspective shift

I have lived in Maryland for the past eight years. I dare say there are a number of great outdoor finds that surround me and I have never taken the time to visit. For Spring break this year, I decided on a staycation! Instead of seeking out distant finds, I focused on the gems I had right here in my backyard. In less than an hour's drive is Great Falls, Virginia. It is right in my backyard and I failed to notice it even existed. Now that I have made it a priority to seek out local parks, it is easier to see. My daughter, Alivia received a tremendous gift from school that gives us free entry for one year into parks across the US. We plan to take advantage of this gift! This same week we went to Calvert Cliffs in Maryland and Quiet Waters in Annapolis as well. We are looking forward to exploring more!

Effect Change

As always, may we encourage each other to affect change while living, loving, and dreaming boldly! Moving forward, I will be posting monthly on the first of the month! In the interim, feel free to send me an email when it moves you. Autumn@AutumnMcKenzie.com
