Channeling Motivation
/Motivation versus Inspiration
Everyone needs encouragement and inspiration. Motivation is the tough part. What I believe to be true is that motivation is personal, something that is valued by the individual and accepted as truth. Encouragement and inspiration merely appeal to one’s motives.
To that end, I am not so sure one person can actually motivate another. I believe a person has to make a decision for whom and what they will stand. Not everyone is motivated by the same things. Motives differ based on values. Values can be influenced by family, friends, school and environment at large. Motives can be influenced. Motives can be inspired. Motives can be encouraged. Still, there is a decision whether consciously or subconsciously to accept a particular value as personal truth. In turn, it is the strength of belief in a truth that provides the motivation. If I believe it to be true, what am I going to do about it? It is at this level that encouragement is necessary and inspiration is most effective.
Recently, I have been encouraged in so many unexpected ways. Many times it started with sharing. In sharing, others have shared with me and it gives me further encouragement to press on and shine. I have struggled with this. I am not terribly interested in shining. It attracts too much attention and believe it or not- I shy away from attention. Apparently, I have no choice in the matter. I have been made to shine. We all are.
Search for your light, your motivation, your best self, and let it shine. Let us inspire, influence and encourage one another. Together we can light it up.
The last post I wrote was nearly two years ago. I have been grieving, slaying giants, raising champions, and growing in faith.
