Colgate University Alumna Recognized
/ Autumn McKenzie JacksonThe irony is not lost on me. Just the other day, I get a message from Doug, Colgate alumni, sharing an article that was posted recently in support of Black History Month.. https://gocolgateraiders.com/news/2019/2/21/volleyball-black-history-month-salute-autumn-mckenzie-97.aspx
Awesome to be recognized! Still, my first reaction is to shy away from the attention. I want my little to girls to realize that the possibilities are endless and I believe exposure is a great part of that. Last week I encouraged people to embrace their gifts and share them with the world. Who am I to do differently?
While I was at my brother Darrell’s life celebration in NY, there was a windstorm in Maryland. I received a text from my neighbor that they were calling the police
I don’t know exactly when I realized that I was scheduled to work the same day Audrey and I were to fly to Orlando, Fl for National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Age Group Championships.
As I prepared for my brother’s life celebration, I found out that I had no way to prepare for what I experienced. I already have the utmost admiration for my brother, still, over the course of one afternoon at West Point…
I am certain I did not understand the full significance of what he wrote then nor do I now, but I knew enough to hold onto his letters.
I tend not to be awestruck, but my older brother, Darrell, is an exception. He is my superhero.
Being mothered is a universal experience. It is a life long process.
I am grateful for all those who have touched my life and continue to invest in me in this way. God is intentional.. It is out of the abundance of His love through others that compels me.
