In the Midst of a Storm, Focus on Love

I will share a bit about the changes that I am going through. Background. Five years ago, I lost my husband to cancer. My primary focus has been raising my two little girls. With God’s help, we were overcoming. I started blogging 3 years ago as a platform to write a book for my girls. I was just hitting my new stride. I have been pursuing life with urgency and intention. Entering into 2020, I was feeling especially optimistic for positive change. My faith and hope were at an all time high. Then my mom had a sudden and rapid decline in health and passed away. I continue to navigate through personal crisis and change in the midst of a pandemic.

If I dwell on it, it feels like too much. If I dwell on it, I start to feel sorry for myself. Instead, I find peace and strength knowing that God has a plan.

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will
And not a tear is wasted
In time, you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands
— -Casting Crowns ( Just Be Held)

I choose to keep my eyes on God and God is love.  So, although I am experiencing significant change, I choose to focus on LOVE .

To that end- my girls and I are putting together Care Boxes to show love to others.  We are not the only one going through a tough time. People are isolated and scared. The Care Boxes include a variety of essentials like hand soap, dish soap, body wash, laundry detergent or disinfectant (depending on availability). More importantly, the personalized Care Boxes come with a note of encouragement highlighting love and community in the midst of isolation.

Reaching out, developing, and continuing to embrace community is an important message I am sharing with my girls during this difficult time as we use art therapy to create the Care Boxes.  We have a goal to reach every state in the continental US. We can’t do any of this alone. Let’s spread love together
