"Empowering the Next Generation"
/ Autumn McKenzie JacksonSuper excited to be invited back to my alma mater Colgate University for a conference “ Empowering the Next Generation.” I asked if my little girls could be by my side and they did not hesitate to say yes. Was it extra work? Yes! Was it worth it? Yes.
So grateful for so many things. Grateful to be welcomed back to campus. Grateful for the time to be present. Grateful for new relationships started with alumni and students.
The kickoff was a dinner in Colgate’s Hall of Presidents. While I mingled, I gave my girls an assignment to meet 5 people. They stole the room. Super impressed with their ability to embrace new situations and tackle challenges. I teach them and they teach me.
I don’t know exactly when I realized that I was scheduled to work the same day Audrey and I were to fly to Orlando, Fl for National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Age Group Championships.
As I prepared for my brother’s life celebration, I found out that I had no way to prepare for what I experienced. I already have the utmost admiration for my brother, still, over the course of one afternoon at West Point…
I am certain I did not understand the full significance of what he wrote then nor do I now, but I knew enough to hold onto his letters.
I tend not to be awestruck, but my older brother, Darrell, is an exception. He is my superhero.
If you have never made a declaration of faith and you want to make that commitment, here is how.
This is my nephew Joshua. He is the boy in my Joyful Crew!
