Perspective: Open Your Mind
/ Autumn McKenzie Jackson
Open your mind. Consider the possibilities.
I have noticed that a change in perspective has opened up doors of opportunity that I could have easily overlooked. In fact, I have been amazed at the opportunities that are hidden in plain sight. Gaining perspective changes everything. Even small adjustments can make a world of difference.
Events, reading, travel, discussion, and meeting new people are all ways to get exposure, open our minds, and change our perspective.
While I was at my brother Darrell’s life celebration in NY, there was a windstorm in Maryland. I received a text from my neighbor that they were calling the police
I don’t know exactly when I realized that I was scheduled to work the same day Audrey and I were to fly to Orlando, Fl for National Club Swimming Association (NCSA) Age Group Championships.
As I prepared for my brother’s life celebration, I found out that I had no way to prepare for what I experienced. I already have the utmost admiration for my brother, still, over the course of one afternoon at West Point…
I am certain I did not understand the full significance of what he wrote then nor do I now, but I knew enough to hold onto his letters.
I tend not to be awestruck, but my older brother, Darrell, is an exception. He is my superhero.
Being mothered is a universal experience. It is a life long process.
I am grateful for all those who have touched my life and continue to invest in me in this way. God is intentional.. It is out of the abundance of His love through others that compels me.
